The Winn Elementary Library Addition is a 5,130 SF new construction project for AISD, along with 5,280 SF of interior renovations to the school. The Library provides an up-to-date facility for elementary students to access educational literary and audio visual information. The building's steel structure sits on a new concrete foundation consisting of drilled piers, grade beams, and concrete slab. The structure’s exterior is enveloped with an insulating sheathing and brick masonry. Roofing consists of an insulated modified bitumen system trimmed with metal fascia and soffit panels. The interior is a largely open high ceiling room, brightly painted, thermally conditioned by aesthetically attractive fabric duct work, full of book shelving and storage, and contains countless work stations with data access points. The building has its own fire and security alarm systems, staff work area, storage area, and unisex restroom. The construction design and components will provide a modern facility, usable for countless years by multitudes of students.
